It is our pleasure to be able to collect resources for newer members to RCA in the hopes of having a starting place for folks to check out what our club can offer if they're not sure where to begin. See Margaret McCrea’s* introductory videos on telescopes and sky atlases below!

This page will include links, documents, and videos that those newer to RCA and to astronomy as a hobby may find useful. The page is brand new so it is a work in progress and we'd love your feedback! Please suggest any content that you feel would be helpful to include at newmembers@rosecityastronomers.org.

Captioning

RCA members who benefit from captioning during meetings suggest the following options for transcription services during online meetings.

Desktop computer: Web Captioner
Android device: Live Transcribe
iPhone: Ava

The phone apps can be used while attending an online program on a computer by putting the phone near the computer's speaker. Or to see captions on the computer screen, open Web Captioner in a separate browser window, click "Start Captioning" then adjust the size of the browser windows so that the Web Captioner window sits below the Zoom meeting.

We are open to any further suggestions for both online and in person.
